Why This Weekend’s Hello Kitty Run Will Be More Than Kawaii Fun

Are you looking forward to the race as much as we are?

Let’s admit it: Our exercise routines have been shoved on the back burner lately, because everyone’s rushing to close the year at work and prepping for the festive season (read: shopping and partying).

But one event this Saturday might just change all that: The first Hello Kitty Night Run 2015. Whether you’re looking to work those muscles, shake that booty, take some out-of-towners around or finish your Christmas shopping, this - unexpectedly - could be the one place to do it all. Here’s why.

1. It’s the first night race of its kind

The 5km route will take you past some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, such as the architecturally stunning Marina Bay Sands - what better way to admire or show off your country?

2. The thematic zones will be quite an experience

Each of the four zones participants will run through offers a different experience. Think a UV Zone (runners’ white tees will glow in the dark), a Starry Night Zone (with a sea of projected stars) and more.

3. You can revel in the festive atmosphere

...Which includes a carolling session by the Singapore Show Choir Academy. Look out for them along Marina Promenade near City Gallery @ Marina Bay.

4. You can do your Christmas shopping there

This is your chance to pick limited-edition merchandise such as Hello Kitty shopping totes, water bottles, tees and long socks for the Kitty fans among your friends.

5. You can party afterwards

The Hello Kitty Carnival, sited after the finish line, will be crammed with F&B stalls and games stands. We hear there’ll be a special Hello Kitty Christmas Tree for photo ops too.

Not to mention it will all be super kawaii!

Registration for The Hello Kitty Run Singapore 2015 is closed, but you can read more about it here or cheer on the runners from the flag-off point at The Float @ Marina Bay on 19 December.
