5 Easy Morning Hacks To Make The Rest Of Your Day Awesome

Because every day CAN be a perfect day

Waking up on the wrong side of bed is all too easy — even if there’s really only one side because you’re next to a wall. Some mornings can be especially hard (yes, Monday, I’m talking to you) and crankiness sets in quickly.

But did you know there’s something you can do about your day to make it go better? Researchers say the way we kick-start the day has a ripple effect on how good — or bad — it becomes. Here are simple habits we can all adopt.

#1 Have a drink

Do this as soon as you get out of bed. And no, I don’t mean whisky-laced coffee to dull your senses to a new week, but lukewarm lemon water. Many reports claim it fires up your metabolism engine, helps your body burn fat the rest of the day and boosts energy levels. Is any of that true? There’s only one way to find out.

#2 Minimise exposure to technology

You’re going to spend the next eight hours or so staring at your computer and fielding calls. So hold off checking emails or social media till you’re at your desk. Instead, indulge in an extra few minutes in the shower or tuck into a slice of toast and jam as you watch the rest of your neighbourhood stir to life.

#3 S-t-r-e-t-c-h

Many wonder why they feel achy when they get out of bed, forgetting that they’ve just spent hours in a similar position (or two). Feeling pains and strains can bring on crankiness, so loosen up! Do some stretching in the shower, while you’re brushing your teeth or as your coffee percolates.

#4 Set some goals

Think about what you’d like to get done that day, and what approach you’re going to take. You can even prioritise your To Do list, mentally. With these clear goals in mind and the steps you’re going to take, it will feel like half the battle won.

#5 Squeeze in a little nookie

Yes, no kidding. A little sex or a quickie really gets the endorphins going, and you’ll feel energised afterwards. Just make sure you keep things short, so you don’t end up being late for work.
