Popular venue of Sydney’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, Carriageworks is housed in the old Eveleigh Rail Yards at Wilson Street and found in the Redfern Waterloo precinct. It retains the 19th century industrial atmosphere of the former railway carriage and blacksmith workshops, keeping many of the heritage iron and brick details in the building – perfect for OOTDs! With so many spots to choose from, it wasn’t difficult finding spaces to shoot our outfits. You just need to venture around the area to find your ideal ootd-worthy spot!
2. Bondi Beach
Arguably the most famous beach in Sydney and Australia, Bondi Beach has probably featured on more postcards and more television shows and films than any other beach in Australia. I always make it a point to come back to Bondi to grab a few outfit shots here because it always makes for the most photogenic backdrop.
3. Darling Harbour
This was a gem of a find for me on this trip as the Darling Harbour is definitely pretty at night but I never knew how pretty the Darling Harbour looked during sunset. It is adjacent to the city centre and just a 10-minute walk from Sydney’s CBD.
The culturally diverse and unpretentious precinct of Newtown makes it one of Sydney’s most vibrant, colourful and unconventional neighbourhoods. With rows of 19th century terraces, a buzzing nightlife, great pubs, restaurants, boutique shops and more, Newtown is home to an eclectic mix of university students, artists, long-time locals and hip young things, making for a friendly community. The best part? Amazing street art that makes the perfect backdrop for your Instagram shot!
5. Jonah’s Whale Beach
Jonah's Whale Beach is one of Australia's most luxurious ocean retreats – be sure to arrive before sunset to take in the restaurant's view over the Pacific Ocean. Exuding both luxury and romantic vibes, Jonah’s Whale Beach is IMO the best place for a wedding proposal to your loved one (and an ootd-shot, of course!)
6. Grounds of Alexandria
Nothing’s better than having great food and market goodies as backdrop for your outfit shots!
7. Sydney Opera House
Don’t leave Sydney without a shot of the Sydney Opera House in our outfit background! More photogenic options are available if you plan to have lunch at Bennelong or energetic enough to walk around the entire Sydney Opera House. Any angle of the Sydney Opera House works for Instagram!
8. Mrs Macquarie’s Chair
Mrs Macquaries Point, otherwise known as Lady Macquarie's Chair, is found near the eastern edge of Royal Botanic Gardens. Here, you can find one of the best viewpoints of the Harbour, Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, which makes for a great ootd background shot too!
9. Sydney Airport
If you’re a huge fan of floor-to-ceiling windows in your photos, you’ll love the Sydney Airport!
10. QT Sydney
This hotel has a beautiful Great Gatsby vibe that will provide an interesting background for your outfit photos – the ootd-worthy spot is also loved for its unconventional but fashion-forward and style-conscious designs.
