Meghan Markle's father Thomas Markle gave his first remarks on Prince Harry last weekend to a woman visiting a convenience store in Rosarito, Mexico, where he lives a quiet and private life.
The Sun obtained a video of the exchange, where Markle was asked his thoughts on the royal wedding.
“I think it’s wonderful," Thomas said. "I’m very delighted. I think they’re [a] very good match. I’m very happy for them, Meghan and Harry. I love my daughter very much — Harry’s a gentleman.”
After he answered the woman's question, he asked her to leave him alone before driving off, per The Sun.
“Now leave me alone please," he told her and a crowd of onlookers that had formed. "Don’t bother me any more. No more flashing cameras in my eyes or I’ll flash back.”
Meghan's father said previously that he'd "love to" walk her down the aisle. (Reports have gone around since that Meghan wants to have her mother Doria Ragland, who she is closer to, do the honour. Her half sister Samantha Grant claimed in an interview that Thomas will, but what will actually happen only Meghan can say definitively. Thomas and Doria divorced when Meghan was six.)
Meghan revealed during her and Prince Harry's joint interview that while Harry has met her mother, he had not met Thomas yet, though he and Thomas had spoken several times.
