It’s that time of the year again when Apple launches yet another new range of highly anticipated iPhones, making us wonder if we should blow our year-end bonuses on a new gadget. Last year saw the tech giant celebrating its 10th anniversary with the release of a hot new model, iPhone X.
They have bigger screens
If you like your phones big, you’ll be pleased to know that the new iPhone Xs, Xr and Xs Max boast screens larger than that of the existing 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus. The Xs, Xr and Xs Max phones feature 5.8-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.5-inch displays respectively, making film or drama streaming on the phone more enjoyable than before.
They don’t have the home button
Accustomed to using the home buttons on all previous models before the iPhone X? Then using these three new phones will take some getting used to. Just like their predecessor, the iPhone X, the Xs, Xr and Xs Max all come with whole screen displays without a home button. To unlock the phone, you'll need to use the face-recognition feature.
They have better bokeh and depth control
Selfie addicts, here’s a new feature to check out in all the three models. The new depth control lets you decide how blur you want your background to be whenever you’re taking a selfie in the portrait mode. You can also choose to blur the background after taking your photos by editing them in your photos album. With better control over the bokeh effect, you can now take professional-looking shots without investing in a digital camera.
The iPhone XR comes in six colour options
Here's a first: Apple is offering a whopping six colour options for a new iPhone — the Xr. The phone is available in white, black, blue, yellow, coral and (Product)Red. If you favour the usual iPhone colours, the Xs and Xs Max come in gold, space grey and silver finishes. Decisions, decisions, decisions.
They have longer-lasting batteries
With so many of us on our phones 24/7 now, battery life is ever more important. Thanks to the good folks at Apple, the iPhone Xs' battery lasts 30 minutes longer than the iPhone X's, while the one on the iPhone Xs Max lasts up to 1.5 hours longer than the iPhone X's. Similarly, the Xr lasts 1.5 hours longer than the iPhone 8 Plus.
The iPhone Xs and Xs Max will be available for pre-order from 14 September 2018, and in stores from 21 September 2018. The iPhone Xr will be available for pre-order from 19 October 2018, and in stores from 26 October 2018.
