Besides their booming careers and lavish lifestyles, here’s another reason to get really, really jealous of Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne and Gigi Hadid.
In a recent news story published on CR Fashion Book (an online fashion portal helmed by Carine Roitfeld), Frank Spadafora, founder of social media analytics platform D’Marie Archive, revealed that the models each garner a whopping US$125,000 to US$300,000 for a single Instagram post — more than what most of us make in a year.
It’s easy to brush this off as another case of celebrities getting richer by the minute, but consider this: The girls are some of the most popular models right now, walking the runways of Balmain, Diane von Furstenberg and Victoria’s Secret, and getting major roles in movies (in Delevingne’s case). They also have over 78 million followers on Instagram between them - as good a reason as any for brands to shell out hundreds of thousands to ride a moment of publicity.
Following the power trio are Victoria’s Secret Angels Karlie Kloss, Behati Prinsloo and Miranda Kerr, who each reap in around US$25,000 to US$50,000 per Instagram post.
Separately, we contacted several local social media influencers, who all declined to comment on their Instagram fees. We understand, however, that bloggers or social media influencers here earn around $400 on average per post - still not too shabby an amount for a relatively quick job.
But before you run out and quit your day job, remember Essena O’Neill, the Australian influencer who publicly quit social media. Yeah, it’s not all fun and selfies in the world of Instagram.
