Hurrah! H&M has announced the opening of its first store in the East at Tampines Mall. Come 1 October, Easties will no longer need to head to town for their shopping fix - as the saying goes, you can just do it in your own backyard.
And no, just because the store’s set in a heartland area doesn’t mean there’ll be a smaller selection. The duplex (you heard that right — two whopping floors) will take up a sprawling 19,500 sq ft and offer the full range of women’s, men’s and children’s apparel, plus accessories.
The store will launch with the brand’s Fall-Winter 2015 collection, which means you can expect to browse through wide-leg trousers, printed dresses and shimmering lurex knits. For men, there’s the popular Modern Essentials selected by David Beckham range, so send your boyfriends over if they need a wardrobe intervention.
Now for the best part. To celebrate the opening, the first 300 customers in line will receive a complimentary H&M tote bag and a shopping voucher worth up to $500.
If you really, really want those vouchers, we suggest joining the queue early. Just how early? As a gauge, when H&M opened its flagship store at Grange Road four years ago, over a thousand people queued up, some even overnight. Good luck.
