Michael Kors — joined by actress Kate Hudson — is back again with a whole slew of initiatives to eradicate world hunger!
For the fourth year in a row, the American label is launching its Watch Hunger Stop campaign in anticipation of World Food Day on 16 October, to support the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
This year, Michael Kors will be releasing a special edition activity tracker, designed with a subtle world map on its white mother-of-pearl watch face and the slogan ‘Watch Hunger Stop’ embossed on the leather band. For each activity tracker sold, 100 meals will be donated to the World Food Programme.
It’s more than just a great charitable purchase — the smart watch is incredibly functional too. You can set your workout goals, track your progress and monitor your sleep activity. The watch, which is compatible with both iOS and Android phones, is powered by the Michael Kors Access app and does not need to be charged, thanks to a coin cell battery. You can even control your linked smartphone remotely, and take photos, play music and find your phone with the tracker.
Of course, Michael Kors’ iconic Watch Hunger Stop timepieces, that have been a big part of the initiative since its inception, will also be available. This year, both the 100 Series watches and the limited edition Bradshaw 100 watch, will each feature a world map on the dial, along with Michael Kors’ signature, and the ‘Watch Hunger Stop’ and ‘1 Watch = 100 Meals’ messages engraved on the back.
Aiding the fight against world hunger is as easy as buying a watch. Michael Kors’ Watch Hunger Stop efforts have helped the World Food Programme deliver more than 13 million meals to children in need over the years.
As Michael Kors himself puts it, "“Hunger is a complicated problem, but the simple truth is that if we work together, we can solve it. Watch Hunger Stop supports the World Food Programme (WFP)’s school meals program, improving the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children. It’s a cause that should matter to everyone, because in the end we’re all part of the same community.”
The Watch Hunger Stop activity tracker ($239) and Watch Hunger Stop watches ($489) will be available at selected Michael Kors boutiques and online at Michaelkors.com from 1 October.
