Here are a few fashionable ways to wear your national pride… donning a shirt and carrying a tote from Yohji Yamamoto’s Singapura collection.
The Japanese fashion designer has curated a special Singapore-themed exhibition, which is held in Tokyo, inspired by our multiracial and cross-cultural city. He has also created limited-edition tote bags and T-shirts that feature words that we all know by heart – our national creed.
The print on these designs features four interlocking arms and a phrase from our national pledge — “pledge ourselves as one united people, regardless of race, language and religion.”
The designer also shot his Spring/Summer 2018 men’s collection photo book in Singapore. Produced by Singapore director Eric Khoo’s studio Zhao Wei films and shot by Singaporean photographer Leslie Kee, the photo book (titled Singapura) features Singapore landmarks including Marina Bay Sands and Thian Hock Keng Temple as backdrops.
If you’re in Tokyo, why not check out the special Singapore-themed exhibition at the Yohji Yamamoto Aoyama main store and take the chance to pick up a tote or two? The exhibition runs until 13 February.
