It has been revealed that sartorial queen Rihanna is hosting the event alongside human rights lawyer and mother of two Amal Clooney.
The pair will be working with none other than Donatella Versace to welcome the guests of the show-stopping evening.
Last year's Met Gala was co-chaired by Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams.
Ever since Rihanna emerged in the Comme Des Garçon triumph that, quite frankly, won 2017's spectacle, we've been waiting with baited breath for next year's Met Gala 2018 theme.
The last few years on, arguably, the only red carpet that matters, have seen Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik give us couple goals at 2016's Manus x Machina, SJP's ceiling-grazing headdress at 2015's ode to Guo Pei, and Rihanna steal our hearts (and the internet's) when she became a high-fashion omelette at China: Through the Looking Glass.
So what will the theme be be for the next opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit? Another (rare) single-designer homage? A nod to a subculture, like 2013's Punk theme? Perhaps they'll celebrate a single style icon, like 2001's Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years Gala?
Well, guess no more, because the 2018 Met Gala theme has been revealed as Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
Next Spring, the Costume Institute and all its celebrity devotees will be praising the sartorial angels and putting their most pious sartorial foot forward.
Vogue reports that the curator of the fashion exhibit Andrew Bolton aims to display how 'material Christianity' has helped for the 'Catholic imagination'.
Among the 150 or so ensembles that will be on display are pieces by Coco Chanel, who was educated by nuns, and John Galliano, whose transgressive Fall 2000 Couture collection for Christian Dior opened with a mitred, incense-swinging pope-like figure who proceeded down the runway to a voice intoning: 'Understand the concept of love.'
We predict some Handmaid's Tale-style robes from celebrities, with a heavy dose of Dolce & Gabbana, of course.
