We know you're not done with 2018 yet. Heck, summer isn't even over yet. However, we have some evidence regarding what could be the reigning trainer of 2019.
In 2017, Balenciaga's Speed trainer was at the height of fame. The space-age shoe is still a street style favourite, and almost every high-street brand took inspiration from its sock-like structure and contrasting sole.
This year, the Spanish fashion house's Triple S kickstarted the 'Dad Trainer' trend. Ugly in the best way and stacked awkwardly high, like the Speed before, it became a frontrunner in the market for mismatched, discoloured and dweeby kicks.
So, when Demna Gvasalia sent the Track trainer down the AW18 Paris runway this spring, people took notice.
Still decidedly nerdy, yet a whole less weighty, the Track reminds one of an über-keen P.E. teacher who is way too into Badminton, but make it fashion.
Editors and influencers on the front row earlier this year saw these decidedly high-tech trainers go down the runway with clothes that had been moulded from 3-D scans.
A fake mountain stood behind the model-littered catwalk, sending a clear message these sneakers where only for the intrepid.
And soon, for £550, Track trainers will be available exclusively from Selfridges' Corner Shop from 3rd-23rd September. Anticipating the rush for the teacher-friendly shoes, you need to sign up online for a time slot to buy the trainers, and pre-choose from four colour-ways. But hurry, spaces are already filling up fast.
