The Gift That Settles Present-Buying For Years To Come

And it’s actually pretty cool

Charm bracelets have really grown in popularity here over recent years. But did you know that they were created centuries ago?

The Egyptian Pharoahs, for example, used to string amulets together into accessories that they would wear to ward off enemies and bad luck. They also believed that their personalised pieces would help identify them to their gods in the afterlife.

Victorian charm bracelet

Even Britain’s Queen Victoria was a fan of charm bracelets and her love for them sparked off a fashion among Europe’s noble classes during her reign.

These days, companies such as Thomas Sabo feed the continuing demand for charms with specific collections – its Charm Club range, for example, turns 10 next year.

For the anniversary, the German brand has created a special collection of 12 charms crafted from 925 silver, each adorned with five white diamonds. The designs include a teddy bear, a key, a four-leaf clover, a kitten playing with a ball of diamond-studded wool (below) and more – all symbols of love, friendship and the beautiful things in life. Each is priced at $129.

What’s even more beautiful: From tomorrow, if you spend $250 at Thomas Sabo, you’ll receive a special Charm Club anniversary bracelet (worth $129) free to sling those charms on.

It’s the perfect pressie to give a loved one for Christmas – and not just because you won’t need to think about what to give him or her for every occasion after that (another meaningful charm, of course!).

Promotion ends 15 November; available at all Thomas Sabo stores.
