Are you one for conscious shopping (just like Petra Nemcova)? Then you’ll be glad to know that you can now find sustainable clothing at Pomelo. The online fashion store, known for its wallet-friendly and #OOTD-worthy designs, has launched its first sustainable collection today.
Named Purpose By Pomelo, the 12-piece capsule includes everyday pieces like denim jackets, T-shirts and tote bags that are all made from materials sourced from Better Cotton Initiative (BCI).
Production is done in an environmentally friendly way as far as possible: Pomelo’s Purpose T-shirt, for example, saves a whopping 1,053 litres more water in production in comparison to what it takes to make a regular top. At the same time, all Purpose By Pomelo items do not come with buttons, allowing them to be 100 per cent recyclable.
Sustainable materials aside, the label is also urging Purpose By Pomelo shoppers to recycle by offering free pick-up service of clothing items to be donated in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.
This means you’ll get to book your preferred pick-up time, and they’ll collect and help you deliver up to 5kg of your old clothing to a donation centre (at zero cost!). In Singapore, Pomelo has partnered non-profit organisations like Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations and AG Home.
