We’ll admit it — every year, as the festive season rolls around, shopping for gifts can be a somewhat stressful affair (especially if you’re one to leave it till the very last minute). From the long queues to the tiring process of gift-wrapping, the lead-up to Christmas can be a lot less fun than it sounds. There is, however, an incredibly easy solution...and it’s simply to start shopping for your gifts early!
There’s no other better place to begin than the Keepers PlayShop, which will start this weekend at the new Keepers store in National Design Centre. The idea behind this concept event follows its name — there’ll be activities (such as crafting workshops), as well as items for sale that will be great as gifts (think everything from fashion to food).
Expect to find goods handpicked by jewellery designer and founder of the Keepers store Carolyn Kan, from more than 40 of the best-known independent designers, artisans and artists. Among the brands are Ling Wu, Allies of Skin and Mossery, just to name a few. Special workshops will also run until 25 December to help you prep for the year-end festivities. Scroll down to find out more.
Allies of Skin
All the festive, late-night partying is bound to take a toll on your skin. So arm yourself with the latest products from local beauty brand Allies of Skin. Its recent releases — Promise Keeper Blemish Facial, Fresh Slate Brightening Cleanser + Masque and Fresh Slate Purifying Cleanser + Masque — all work hard to keep your complexion #lit and worry-free.
Not a digital calendar kind of person? Then Mossery’s 2018 planners are great for penning down big plans for the year ahead. The covers are customisable, so go ahead and personalise one with your giftee’s name for an extra-special touch.
Watercolour Handscripting Workshop
Whether you aim to improve your penmanship or simply want to customise your gift tags or Christmas cards with a handwritten note, this brush calligraphy class by @nehohmee promises to be an interesting session. Aside from learning how to write with calligraphy pens, this four-hour class will also focus on colour-blending, a technique that will make your artwork and greetings even more captivating.
The Binary Style X Keepers
For a gift that’s uniquely Singapore, go for the printed scarves by Singaporean scarf label The Binary Style. Its colourful Let’s Play Scarf features prints depicting familiar sights of Singapore (like HDB blocks and playgrounds).
The aromatherapy goodies by Mmerci Encore offer stress relief, which is something practically everyone needs. The artisanal beauty products, concocted by ex-beauty editor Alli Sim, are made with pure essential oils that not only smell amazing but also turn your bath and bedtime routines to sheer bliss.
Keepers Playshop is at #01-01 National Design Centre. For more information or to register for the workshops, click here.
