Shoe Collabs To Get Excited About

For when you want something seriously special in your collection

We know how it is: Shopping these days is all about trying to get something even more special than the last, because it has to be worthy of space in your increasingly crowded closet. Which is why we love collaborations so much - they have less of a mass-produced feel to them, plus the double dose of creative input can sometimes result in brilliant, beautiful designs.

Here are two collections to snap up in your pursuit of better, bolder and more exceptional pieces.

Clarks X Orla Kiely

Iconic British shoe brand Clarks has teamed up with Irish fashion designer Orla Kiely on this lustworthy collection that’s full of quirky, girly charm.

Dubbed the Queen of Prints, Kiely is known for her playful and cleanly repetitive patterns, which have dressed everything from homeware to accessories and clothes.

This time, Clarks has combined Kiely’s creativity and its own shoe-making expertise to create an adorable range of steppers including T-bar pumps, lace-up shoes and booties.

The limited-edition range, which is priced from $239 to $439, will be available exclusively at Clarks’ Ion Orchard store (#B2-22 Ion Orchard, tel: 6238-1558).

Melissa X Sebastian Errazuriz

We’ve heard of songs written about ex-lovers (we’re looking at you, Taylor Swift), but here’s something new: Shoes inspired by ex-girlfriends.

Everyone’s favourite plastic shoe label, Melissa, has teamed up with Chilean contemporary artist Sebastian Errazuriz to create a capsule collection that echoes a series of sculptures from the artist titled Twelve Shoes for Twelve Lovers.

Of his twelve designs, just two went into production, and they’ll go on sale at the Melissa MDreams pop-up store (#B1-05B Wheelock Place, tel: 6235-2946) for a very limited period of time: 13 October till 10 November.

The Boss features brass knuckles embedded into the arch below the shoe, while Gold Digger depicts a man (serving as the heel) holding up the shoe. Both designs retail at $590 a pair.

We’re guessing Errazzuiz had some nasty experiences with his exes. Silver lining, though - they resulted in these wicked shoes!
