Resort 2016 Trend: Bomber Jackets

An updated version of the cool-kid staple takes centrestage

SHARE

Fun fact: Bomber jackets, or flight jackets as they’re also known, were created during World War I to keep fighter pilots warm as planes didn’t have enclosed cockpits then.

Popular culture later caught on and made these slightly puffy jackets a cool-kid must-have in classic colours like black, navy and forest green.

This season, designers have taken the cool factor further, embellishing bombers with embroidery and satin, and teaming the jackets with lace and flowy dresses for a feminine touch.

Bombs away, ladies.
