We’ve always been fans of Proenza Schouler’s messenger bags, so naturally we were dying to find out if the American label’s new classic for Fall/Winter, the Kent bag, would live up to its super successful PS11 and PS1 predecessors.
Jack and Lazaro, the cute fashion duo behind the label, have a knack for getting downtown cool spot-on - and the Kent scores highly on this. It’s a great practical size, with a cool tomboy silhouette that has soft curves. We like how the body is just slouchy enough so that it doesn’t look too formal.
Compared to the PS11 and the PS1, the Kent is deeper and not as broad, which makes it look more appropriate for petite girls. We stuffed a Kindle, a long wallet, a makeup pouch and other necessities in with ease, and still had room to spare.
It’s a bag that’s meant to work for you. It sits nicely on the shoulder, making it a great daily accessory for work or even travelling. The bag clasp took a little getting used to at the start but it wasn’t a problem after a couple of days.
There are three sizes available: The Kent bag, the Mini Kent bag and the Kent Shoulder bag. We think it could really work as a backpack too, so let’s wait and see if that happens. It comes in leathers of different hues including canary yellow, stamp croc (which looks amazing), python and felt.
