Calling Mulan, Pocahontas and other warrior princesses: There's a new label in town that you'll want to conquer. Called Chi Chi von Tang, it aspires to bring the East and the West together by mixing traditional Chinese designs (such as the qipao and mandarin collar) with modern staple pieces like sleek black pants.
Its designer: Lisa Crosswhite, the founder of online clothing store Gnossem. Says the fashion maven of her debut collection, “I wanted to show my Chinese heritage in my style, but the available options were too traditional and ladylike for my taste. I therefore began dreaming of pieces that you could throw on with sharp basics you already have, and would make you feel instantly badass. Instantly Asian.”
She adds, “Chi Chi is for the exotic warrior princess in you. She succeeds in a man's world, while building her own. She is aware of her ethnic roots. She intrigues.”
Want to get your hands on this fashion armour? The label's SS16 collection will be unveiled in September at Formula One, as the official fashion show of Amber Lounge where the exclusive front row seats will be reserved for Asia's fashion leaders. Get it after exclusively at Gnossem.com.
