It’s not that it was never okay to wear leggings as pants (let no one dictate your wardrobe!), but the stretchy, skin-tight things have always been under fire for hugging every curve and causing the dreaded camel-toe.
Still, practical fashionistas like ourselves (and heartland aunties) have never abandoned them, because they’re uber comfy and perfect for any activity, from jogging to clearing out a buffet.
Now, they’re back in fashion as well. Leggings have been traipsing the Spring-Summer 2016 runways, though mostly not in the way you’d expect (that is, worn with longer tops or dresses).
Olivier Rousteing’s luxe versions in suede and muted shades of taupe and brown for Balmain were paired with equally skin-tight crop tops or ones that fell just past the waist, while peggings (leggings that look like pants) in evergreen colours like black, olive and beige were topped off with shorter blouses on the 3.1 Phillip Lim runway.
The only thing we’d recommend adding to these sleek, simple silhouettes? A camel-toe guard.
