Intimate Polaroids From Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 2 Show

What went down at the rapper's last-minute, super controversial NYFW bash

Rapper-turned-designer Kanye West held a show for his new Kanye West X Adidas Originals Collection, Yeezy Season 2, yesterday. And despite the last-minute announcement, it was — unsurprisingly - a star-studded event (see the cast of thousands below).

But the eleventh-hour announcement caused anger among some, including designer Anne Bowen who was supposed to show at the same time. She told WWD, “Kanye knows he is a media sensation and it is just not ethical to do this. It’s like we are David and he is Goliath. We have put our heart and soul into our show, and should not be stepped on like this.”

Judging by the reviews of the clothes though, the rapper may be getting his come-uppance. Here’s a round-up of the show.

The clothes: Mostly beige, unappealing and ready to be torn apart by critics. They also kinda look like Season 1’s - which have yet to make it to the production line. And the Yeezy Boost kicks? Similar to last season’s as well (though we’re sure hard-core fans will ensure that they sell out).

The collaborator: While Adidas appeared to be a sponsor, the company tweeted after the show: “Today adidas long-term partner Kanye West presented a collection as a designer in his own right.” Eh?

The Kardashian-Jenner-West Klan: Kylie Jenner walked the show, while sister Kendall got relegated to a seat in the second row. Oops. Meanwhile, Kim, Khloe and Kourtney sat front row, while North West took the cake – she sat in front of the front row, sucking on a lollypop.

The guests: Included Lorde, Drake, Seth Myers (again - eh?), Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci, Courtney Love, REM frontman Michael Stipe, Tyga, Jayden Smith and Michael Strahan.

The models: Were all made to sign a non-disclosure contract forbidding them to talk about Kayne, Kim or anyone from the Klan — or they would be slapped with a US$10 million lawsuit. A lot of high-profile models who deemed it ridiculous turned the job down.

The music: The rapper debuted a new track called Fade during the show, presumably off an upcoming album titled Swish.
