Boy has 2015 been an exciting year for shopaholics here. Not only did some fun global brands land on our shores (hello Maje, Sandro, American Eagle Outfitters et al), we also slobbered at a slew of cool collaborations from the likes of Uniqlo X Christophe Lemaire and H&M X Balmain, to name just a couple.
Now, to cap off the year, the piece de resistance: News that multi-label retailer Dover Street Market - the uber hip brainchild of Comme Des Garcons’ founder Rei Kawakubo that’s already in London, New York and Tokyo - is opening here!
According to Channel NewsAsia, the government tender for two blocks (17 and 18) on Dempsey Road was today awarded to COMO Lifestyle, whose bid sketched out a concept called COMO Dempsey. What it will encompass: A Dover Street Market store integrated with several F&B outlets, including a Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant and bar, a new dining concept called COMO Cuisine, and local Peranakan eatery Candlenut.
While there’s no word yet on when COMO Dempsey will materialise, the existing tenants of Block 18 (Block 17 is empty) will be moving out early next year.
In the meantime, watch this space for updates.
