For its Spring-Summer 2016 show, Prada converted its Milan headquarters into a sci-fi-looking maze, with sheets of yellow fibreglass hanging from the ceiling, concrete floors and curved blocks as seats.
Meanwhile, the models’ faces were stripped bare with lips painted gold and slicked-back hair, leaving only a few strands to frame the face.
“More gold!” makeup artist Pat McGrath shouted backstage as her team piled shimmery gold powder (24-karat, no less) onto the models’ lips.
The futuristic hair and makeup complemented the bold aesthetics of the collection, which featured boxy silhouettes, bold stripes, highly textured layers and contrasting hues. Many came embellished with netted bibs and collars - behold the new necklace!
Another accessory that caught our attention: The disco ball-like earrings, which glinted in the light as the models strutted through the maze. Other reflective elements, like large sequins, also trickled through the collection.
