Burberry's Latest Campaign Highlights A New Signature Bag

Featuring the cutest illustrations of The Patchwork

Burberry’s new campaign – which officially launched today – showcases illustrations of its latest signature bag, The Patchwork, drawn by 26-year-old British artist, Luke Edward Hall. While the Central St. Martins graduate is perhaps more known for his work in interior design and homeware, it is clear that he is an accomplished illustrator as well (check out his Instagram for more examples).

Hall’s illustration style is fun and fresh, whimsical yet sophisticated – it’s no wonder Burberry launched a series of ads that juxtaposes five of his sketches of the house’s new signature bag, The Patchwork, with glossy, high-fashion portraits of Burberry regular Edie Campbell and actor Callum Turner, taken by iconic photographer Mario Testino.

“Luke is a great talent and it has been wonderful working and collaborating with him on our campaign. His beautiful illustrations next to Mario’s powerful photographs capture the artisanal spirit of the collection,” says Christopher Bailey, chief creative and chief executive officer of Burberry.

Introduced during Burberry's Spring/Summer 2016 presentation in February, The Patchwork is the latest addition to the British luxury label’s stable of signature bags with an exclusivity that is unlike any other Burberry bags. Every design of The Patchwork is unique – no two styles are the same, as each bag features a one-of-a-kind mix of fabrications, from the classic checks to glossy snakeskin and supple English suede (and there are more than 3000 designs of The Patchwork available!).

The signature detail of The Patchwork is its polished buckle, which is inspired by the belt buckle of Burberry’s iconic trench coat. To further demonstrate its heritage, each design of The Patchwork is named after a British town, street or village.

Selected designs of The Patchwork are available for purchase here. Visit Burberry boutiques for the full list of Patchwork Bags exclusive to the region. The Patchwork retails from $3,795.
