Why Everyone Needs A Facial Mist

A fresh and well-hydrated complexion is just a spritz, or two, away

A facial mist is no longer just meant to instantly refresh the face. These days, facial mists have become more sophisticated, with some containing sebum controlling benefits or even soothing properties to calm a red and flushed complexion.

Dr Eileen Tan of Eileen Tan Skin, Laser and Hair Transplant Clinic, agrees and adds that facial mists can control shine by helping to regulate sebum production while infusing skin with moisture when used.

In short, using facial mist not only takes away that oily feeling but can also be used to rehydrate the skin and even makeup. Though makeup artist Larry Yeo says that it should not be used if you have very dry skin as the evaporation of the droplets can dry the skin out more.

So what’s the best way to use your facial mist?

Step 1: With a tissue, lightly blot away excess sebum and sweat on the skin with a tissue.

Step 2: Hold the bottle at arm’s length then spritz twice over the face. Don’t be too liberal as too much can wipe away makeup and sunscreen.

Step 3: Gently pat the water into the skin with your hands. Do not let it dry naturally as it can dry the skin out when the droplets evaporate.

Step 4: Re-apply makeup or sunscreen if necessary.
