This Is What $5,000 Smells Like

And it comes in a collector's Baccarat crystal bottle

In celebration of Baccarat’s 250th anniversary, the crystal glassware company joined hands with contemporary perfumer Francis Kurkdjian to launch a new scent – Baccarat Rouge 540.

The fragrance is available in a limited and numbered Baccarat crystal edition, which sees clear crystal mingled with 24-carat gold powder and gradually brought to fusion at 540 degrees, arousing a glowing rouge appearance (hence its name). There are only 250 bottles available worldwide, six of which are right here in Singapore. Get this: A bottle will set you back $5,760.

The fragrance draws inspiration from the heart of the Baccarat manufactory and is a luminous yet intense woody-floral juice with notes of jasmine, saffron and ambergris. Its balance of floral and freshly-cut cedar tones is nothing you’d expect – you’ll have to sniff the blend yourself.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 is also available in the perfume house’s usual 70ml bottle.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 EDP, $356 for 70ml; and $5,760 for the 100ml limited and numbered Baccarat crystal edition, is available from Escentials.
