This Is The Best Time To Comb Your Hair

It might surprise you

Brushing your hair can make all the difference. Doing it often is good for your mane, too. Besides shine and smoothness, GHD leading guest stylist Lawrence Chan from Hong Kong tells me “it’s like having someone massage your scalp. Doing so increases blood circulation for healthier hair.”

Get this, the time you decide to comb your hair plays a part as well. And contrary to popular belief, “the best time to comb your hair is after it has been conditioned and towel-dried,” says Lawrence.

The rational: Running your brush though towel-dried strands will help close any hair cuticles so there’s less frizz after and of course there’s the issue of detangling. But be sure to comb through gently as wet hair is more susceptible to breakage.

Lawrence’s trick is to “Subdivide your hair before combing through. If you have hair that tangles easily, use a paddle brush like the GHD Paddle Brush, $45, from Sephora. Then blow dry your strands and comb again with a bristle brush or wide-tooth comb.”
