There's a reason bedhead hair is so provocative. It looks effortless, touchable and accessible.
But looks can be deceiving because it actually takes a bit of effort to keep this come-hither hairstyle looking sexy, not messy.
We got the lowdown on tousled hair from Adam Reed. celebrity stylist and creative director of Percy & Reed.
1. Apply a heat protecting product like Percy & Reed The Perfect Blow Dry Makeover Spray ($26 for 150ml, from Sephora) onto clean dry hair. Then curl hair in sections using a curling iron. Reed likes ghd's Curve Creative Curl styling tool.
(Ed's note: For the lazy or busy girl, you can also twirl hair into several small chignons, pin them in place and blast with a hairdryer to set.)
2. Let your locks cool down before shaking curls loose and misting with a volumising spray like Percy & Reed Big, Bold & Beautiful Dry Volumising Spray ($30 for 200ml, from Sephora). "Work the product into hair with your fingertips," says Reed. This will give hair a nonchalant tousled look.
3. If you want the style to look amazingly sexy, not sloopy, all day long, don't forget to toss that volumising spray in your bag for a little mane maintenance. To refresh the style, simply bend over and shake hair forward, then mist some volumising spray at the roots and scrunch those waves with your hands to add texture, and you're all set to sizzle.
