What causes skin to become reactive?
Sensitive skin is genetic for some while others develop it temporarily due to hormonal changes and increased stress levels.
Environmental factors such as fluctuation in temperatures or overexposure to the sun contribute to the condition. Even pollution (haze, smoke and dust) can weaken our skin’s barrier over time.
Sensitive skin turns red easily, feels tight, and itches. Studies show that over two-thirds of women experience some type of skin sensitivity.
“This happens when skin becomes stripped of moisture and exposed to irritants,” says Dr Karen Soh, medical director at Prive Clinic.
To reduce sensitivity, go for products that are free of fragrance and alcohol. It also helps to keep skin hydrated and protected from the sun. The key is to bolster skin barrier, which is what Lancôme's latest Advanced Genifique Sensitive aims to do.
This antioxidant-rich serum is used as an intensive month-long programme to soothe sensitivity, reduce ageing signs and strengthen skin’s barrier – all at once.
How to use it: Activate the ultra-soother. Release the active ingredients into the serum by pushing the button on the cap, shake to mix and swap out the cap for the application dropper and apply.
