It turns out micellar water, the it-girl staple and beauty blogger favourite, will get you more bang for your buck that you may have previously thought. And not only has it been a beauty game changer from the second we first used it, but we haven’t been using it at all to its full potential.
Here are eight alternative ways to use micellar water that you may not have tried, but certainly will now:
Before diving straight into cleansing your face, use some micellar water on a makeup remover pad to do a quick pre-clean before jumping into your skincare regime. It will remove any excess grime off your face and ensure that the rest of your other products are working to their full potential.
Correct Makeup Mistakes
While it can be used to remove a whole face of makeup, you can also use it to correct small makeup mistakes. Dip a cotton bud in some micellar water to tidy up your liquid eyeliner, or remove any other small makeup hiccups without having to erase what you’ve just spent the last half an hour applying. Hey, if Adele's makeup artist uses this trick, we can too!
Clean Makeup Brushes
If it cleans the makeup of your face, it can just as well clean the makeup off your brushes! Pour some micellar water into a glass, swirl your brush around in it, and do a final clean by wiping any excess left on the brush onto a tissue.
Everyone has had that moment of panic when they get a stain on the outfit they’ve been planning on wearing for weeks, moments before leaving the house. You’re probably not going to change clothes, so use a bit of micellar water to gently spot clean the stain away (although, steer clear of using this on more delicate fabrics).
Removing Fake Lashes
To ensure you don't rip them off along with half of your actual lashes, soak two makeup remover pads in micellar water and place them over your fake lashes for a few moments. Once you remove the pads from your eyes, the lashes should easily peel off.
Just like your skin, any white sneaker needs frequent cleaning. Apply micellar water to a makeup remover pad, and swipe over any surface marks on your leather sneakers.
Mending Cracked Powders
There is nothing more heartbreaking than cracking a brand-new bronzer. Pour a few drops of micellar water onto the cracked product and smooth the cracks closed. Side note: Applying a few drops to an eyeshadow is a great way to increase its pigmentation.
Some can find it almost impossible to not get blotches of fake tan on their hands and in between their fingers. Wash your hands with micellar water to lift off the excess pigment.
