No matter how amateurish your makeup skills are, everyone is able to apply and pull off a glossy lip. I’ve never been a fan of lip glosses, as they tend to smudge or stick to my hair whenever the wind blows, and they aren’t known for the most long-lasting coverage either.
Thankfully, the emergence of lip oils has completely changed the game. Non-sticky, with rich, layer-able colour and a nourishing effect thanks to its essential oils content, lip oils are a definite must-have in your makeup kit. Below are three of my favourites.
Clarins ‘Instant Light’ Lip Comfort Oil
We’ve already gushed about this product when it launched a couple of months ago, and it remains one of our favourite lip oils to date. The gel-like consistency delivers nourishment derived from jojoba, hazelnut and more, while the sheer wash of colour leaves a pretty stain on lips.
Yves Saint Laurent Volupté Tint-In-Oil
With four types of essential oils including apricot kernel, coriander, jojoba and passionfruit, chapped lips will definitely appreciate the boost of moisture from this nourishing lip oil. The tapered wand makes application much easier – no more out-of-line smudging!
Lancôme Juicy Shaker Pigment Infused Bi-Phased Lip Oil
While its name might be a mouthful, this petite lip oil is packed with hydrating ingredients like muscat rose, cranberry and peach kernel oils. Its pigment-rich formula also ensures a beautiful sweep of high-shine colour with a single layer while leaving lips looking fuller.
