Your Pretty Ugly Shoes Are Cool Again

Practical peeps, rejoice!

1. UGG

UGGs are insanely warm and comfy, but their chunky shape has given them a reputation for being solely reserved for cold weather. That’s not the case any more, though. The footwear brand has just released a new Classic Slim collection made up of slimmer versions that are so chic you’ll want to wear them even when it’s warm out. Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe loved them so much she styled an entire campaign around them, while Kendall and Kylie Jenner have been spotted rocking their Classic Slims. Take it from the Jenner girls and wear yours with equally comfortable sweats, or go punk with skinny jeans and a leather jacket.

2. Tevas

Remember these from your childhood? Most of us would have owned a pair of Tevas when we were younger, whether we liked it or not (thanks, Mum). The utilitarian sandal faded into obscurity during the ’90s and recently made a comeback when the whole Normcore trend exploded. Now, the sandals come in a variety of cool prints, colours and finishes, including styles with platforms. Pair the casual strap-ons with a crisp shirt dress — like actress Jamie Chung — for the perfect weekend ensemble.

A collaboration with DIY blog HonestlyWTF, the flatforms come with a DIY kit containing Swarovski crystals and string so you can decorate your pair — so cute!

3. Birkenstock

Another sandal label we remember from our childhood is cool once more! Again, thanks to Normcore, fashion girls and celebrities alike are now busting out their Birkies on the streets, because who doesn’t love a chic and easy pair of slip-ons? Channel laidback Jessica Alba’s Californian vibe by wearing yours with a pretty maxi-dress and monochromatic accessories.

4. Crocs

We know, we know — we all have mixed feelings when it comes to Crocs. While we still can’t see ourselves walking around town in their iconic hole-ridden clogs, the American brand has plenty of other fashionable styles that are just as ergonomic. There are sandals (like the ones on actress Bella Thorne), ballerina flats and even heels for those who want to dip just a toe into the ugly-shoe trend, not a whole clog.
