We’re huge fans of the Chanel Boy.Friend watch, so it’s great news to know that our real boyfriends are able to share the love now, too.
Chanel has introduced Monsieur de Chanel, the first watch from the brand that is specifically designed for men. The 40mm handsome timepiece took five years to develop, and is a symbol of masculinity with its sleek design and stellar mechanical prowess.
It comes with a manual-winding mechanical movement named the Calibre 1, as well as a double complication that includes 170 components. It’s a jumping hour watch, with the hour indicator at the six o’clock position.
Notably, the hours are displayed in Arabic numerals, housed in an octagonal window, which echoes Place Vendôme, a source of inspiration for Coco Chanel that also led to the design of the octagonal cap of her first perfume, Chanel No. 5. Above the jumping hour, you’ll find the Monsieur de Chanel’s seconds function, and further up, the retrograde minutes function in a 240-degree display.
There are only 300 Monsieur de Chanel timepieces released this year: 150 in beige gold and 150 in white gold - we're definitely borrowing this from the boys, if we can. See the watch in detail in the video below.
