This Is The Best Way To Celebrate Local Music

You will feel SO proud to be Singaporean

Get ready for a celebration of the best music in Singapore! In 2014, local radio station Lush 99.5 played locally-made music for 24 hours. In 2015, they did so again for 48 hours.

Now, the radio station is taking it up a notch and will be playing tracks by Singaporean artists for a whopping three full days — from 8 to 10 August — for a National Day edition of Lush Loves Local.

“Our goal is to expand this celebration of local music and art over a week. More music is being created by the community than ever before, which is why we are able to naturally increase the number of days we dedicate to local original music during the national festivities,” said Vanessa Fernandez, Lush 99.5’s Programme Director.

Lush 99.5 will also be broadcasting live from the Esplanade Concourse as part of the culture hub’s Red Dot Radio event. Local musical talents Bennet Bay, Leon Markcus and Ethel Yap will be performing, while Lush 99.5’s own DJ Elias Soh will be hosting.

The 3-day music bash will conclude with Sounds of Singapore, organised by final-year students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s own radio station, Radio Heatwave. Student bands will be playing alongside established local acts The Neptune Waves, Heir of Hounds, Gareth Fernandez and Take Two.

Besides tuning in to the broadcast via FM frequency, online or with the MeRadio app, you can further discover each artist and their songs as they’re played on the station’s Twitter account.

Lush 99.5 DJs will also be talking everything Singaporean — from top local events, food and brands — throughout the three days. If this won’t get you in the mood for National Day, we don’t know what will.
