When your parents are Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, subtlety is not an option. To celebrate North West’s first birthday, Kanye and Kim organised a kid-friendly version of Coachella, dubbed Kidchella, that was complete with a stage, a ferris wheel, and snow cones and face painting stations.

Kylie Jenner’s birthday bashes are never a simple affair, but her sweet 16th party, in particular, saw friends leaving with gift bags worth a whopping $1,000, and the birthday girl herself was serenaded by Drake and Big Sean.

Sir Philip Green’s Four Day Blowout

Billionaire and chairman of retail company Arcadia — which handles Topshop, Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins, among other brands — Sir Phillip Green went all out for his 60th birthday. The four-day party in Cancun saw the likes of Robbie Williams, Michael Buble and Stevie Wonder performing each night while guests dined on Kobe beef burgers. He also got a nightclub specially built for his daughter — resulting in a £10 million party bill.

Paris Hilton’s 21st Birthday

The socialite and heiress commemorated her 21st birthday with not one, but five parties in London, New York, Tokyo, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. If you thought that was much, she also had a 21-tier cake. The Hiltons reportedly spent around $75,000 on each guest. 

P. Diddy’s 40th birthday

When P. Diddy/ Puff Daddy/ Sean Combs celebrates his birthday, you know it’s going to be wild. The hiphop mogul threw a huge $3 million party at the Grand Ballroom of New York’s Plaza Hotel, which boasted a guest list made up of stars like Jay-Z, Denzel Washington, Jimmy Fallon and Martha Stewart.

Beyonce’s Mum’s Masquerade ball

For her mum’s 60th birthday, Beyonce spent over $10,000 to throw a black tie masquerade ball in New Orleans. Guests were chauffeured to the location in horse-drawn carriages, welcomed by a marching band, were entertained by a live band inside, and had a nine-tier gold birthday cake. 

Kate Moss’ Glastonbury 40th

Ain’t no party like a Kate Moss party. The supermodel threw a four-day bash modelled after the Glastonbury music festival that boasted performances by Moss’ favourite bands, rave tents, fire breathers, and a psychic.
