How To Ride F1 Weekend If You’re Not A Fan

Hello foodie, this one’s for you

We know - if you’re not a fan of Formula 1 and think Jenson Button is something sold at a haberdashery, you’ll want to avoid the Marina Bay and City Hall area this weekend. Because who wants to brave the crowds and noise if there’s nothing in it for you?

The thing is, there’s plenty...especially if you’re a foodie. After all, F1 weekend is when F&B outlets roll out limited-edition menus that offer delicious food and drink at special prices, which could make venturing into the area well worth your time. Here are three to take advantage of now.

Raffles Singapore F1 Sunday Brunch

Raffles Singapore, 1 Beach Road

The grand ol’ dame is opening its hotel lobby for a champagne brunch that’s happening over one day only - tomorrow - and you’re invited. The lavish event, which will span the lobby, Raffles Grill and Tiffin Room, will feature a sumptuous spread that includes fresh seafood, live carving stations, French cheeses and more.

The cherry on this substantial cake? A free flow of Billecart-Salmon Brut Reserve and Rose bubbly. At $308++ per adult; reservations highly recommended. To book, call 6412-1816.

Bottura Formula 1 Menu

Bottura, #02-472 Suntec City North Wing

At this new open-concept Italian restaurant, you’ll sit down to an appetiser of fazzolletto, featuring a salad of olives, bufala mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and pine nuts wrapped in a parma ham “handkerchief”. Then tuck into a main course of tagliatelle porcini e tartufo, an indulgent medley of handmade tagliatelle pasta, a porcini mushroom cream sauce and freshly shaved truffle.

Finally, finish off with a surprise dessert and your choice of a glass of wine (sparkling included). By the time you enjoy the last drop, you may even be ready to join the F1 festivities.

This special menu is available all day between 10am and 10pm, and is priced at $60++.

Catalunya Pincho Set

Catalunya, The Fullerton Pavilion

Been meaning to try this award-winning restaurant? Now you can experience it at probably the most reasonable price ever: Catalunya’s cocktail and tapas bar has just introduced a special pincho set that’s going for $11++.

For that amount, you get a Spanish tortilla - a traditional Spanish comfort dish of eggs and potatoes on a hunk of warm, toasty baguette topped with aioli and brava sauce - plus your choice of cava or red or white wine. A delicious deal (available till further notice) that will sound equally appetising to your wallet!
