Make sure your alarm is out of reach

By placing your alarm clock across the room, you’re forced to get out of bed to turn it off, instead of just reaching out your arm to hit the snooze button. Since the hardest part of waking up is leaving your bed, hopefully when you get out of bed to turn off that dreaded alarm, you’ll be more motivated to start your day instead of climbing back into bed.

Leave your blinds open

You may not feel it, but your body is actually conditioned to wake up with the sunrise. Allow the sun rays to enter your room and wake you up in the most natural way possible. Think about it: A gradual light streaming in to your room is definitely more gentle on your waking-up routine than a sudden iPhone alarm.

Tech is great

The morning alarm is definitely my most hated sound in the world, which is why I rely on my Jawbone to wake me up instead. The fitness tracker has a smart sleep alarm feature that wakes me up with gentle vibrations during a period of light sleep, which ensures that I wake up feeling more refreshed – no more disoriented shocks from the sudden ringing of an alarm clock!

Do some morning stretches

Light exercise in the morning helps to get your endorphins flowing and give you more energy for the rest of the day. We’re not saying you have to head to the gym in the wee hours – simply start by doing some stretches when you get out bed and we promise that you’ll feel more refreshed the minute you’re done.

If you start your morning with a graceful meditation, or a sunrise Pilates class, well, you can sit this one out. For the rest of us, the struggle is real. Yes, getting out of bed in the morning (especially on Mondays!) can be a real pain in the ass sometimes, especially when brunch is not involved.
