3 Holiday Ideas You’ve Probably Never Considered

Why do what everyone else is doing?

It’s time to recharge - your increasingly irritability at work, overall fatigue and aching shoulders that no amount of massages seem to soothe are but three indicators that you need to run away for a bit.

Of course, the what and the where are just as important as the why. So here are three cool new ideas for a quick break. We’re betting you’ve never gone on any trips like these before.

Club on a cruise

Who says cruises are for the white-shoe brigade? On Dream Cruises, Genting Hong Kong’s soon-to-launch luxury cruise line (which also happens to be Asia’s first), you can party like it’s 2099. Not only will there be pool deck parties on its first liner, the Genting Dream, the 3,400-passenger ship will also feature the world’s first Zouk Moonlight bash on the high seas.

Combine that with 35 F&B concepts, private balconies for over 70 per cent of the staterooms, in-cabin shopping and even a fashion runway parade for kids - and you’ve got one ball of a time. The Genting Dream is scheduled to arrive in Singapore in November and will also dock in Vietnam, Hong Kong, China and India. More info here.

Go on a rebalancing retreat

At TAO, an exclusive life-balance retreat created by Banyan Tree Phuket in partnership with The Link Crowd, you get to recharge the body, mind and soul. The programme’s comprehensive itinerary, which runs from 24 to 26 June, includes nutritional advice, fitness classes and life guidance.

What that means: You can start your day with sunrise yoga on the beach, get tips on healthy eating from a nutritionist, take a Zumba class, then take part in a Living Life With Purpose workshop. A two-night package starts at $3,445. Click here for info and reservations.

Experience a designer-inspired trip

From 16 July, traipse to charming heritage hotel The Temple House in Chengdu, China, for a special package inspired by the iconic DVF wrap dress with chain link motifs.

Called the Love Story of DVF, it involves an Afternoon Tea (SGD55++) made up of sweet treats such as a Berry Macaron featuring classic DVF patterns, and Strawberry Profiteroles in DVF colours.

Complementing this are DVF-themed packages exclusive to the hotel’s Mi Xun Spa. DVF Lux Lips (SGD165++) is a skin rejuvenation treatment, while the DVF Wrap It Up body treatment,(SGD148++) promises to boost vitality and soothe aches. For more info, email reservations@thetemplehousehotel.com.
