Just how big an impact can a tiny country like Singapore have on the global food scene? Well, last night’s annual Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants awards totally showed everyone.
At the ceremony held in Bangkok’s W Hotel, the Little Red Dot bagged 10 out of 50 places, matching the number of awards that larger (and more recognised) gastronomic capitals such as Japan received.

In total, restaurants from 13 countries featured in the list, with China garnering the most places (13) and Bangkok’s Gaggan securing the top spot for the second time.

Tokyo’s Narisawa took second place, while Restaurant Andre claimed third – the highest ranking for a Singapore restaurant in the list.

Other noteworthy names include new entrants Gallery Vask (No. 39 and this year’s Best Restaurant in the Philippines) and Bali’s Locavore (No. 49 and voted Best Restaurant in Indonesia).
