Your Next Shopping Trip Could Change A Fellow Female's Life

Make a difference while buying something pretty

International Women’s Day is here again — the day where we celebrate strong female figures in the world and in our lives, highlight the issues that females all around the globe face today and call for change in our society. So why not take the day to make a positive change in fellow woman’s life yourself?

While not all of us have the time to be active in the frontlines of a charity organisation, it doesn’t have to mean we can’t all play a part. Now, we’ve got the best way to do something meaningful: Shopping. Here are three labels that are going the extra mile, with beautiful creations that go towards women in need.

1. Stylebop X One Million Sisters

E-retailer Stylebop and charity One Million Sisters have teamed up to design a special bracelet to commemorate International Women’s Day. Designed by One Million Sisters co-founder Laetitia Belmadani and crafted by popular Turkish accessories brand Manu Atelier, the bracelet is ethically and sustainably hand-crafted, and sports a sleek nude-coloured leather strap and gold or silver hardware.

All proceeds from the bracelet’s sales will go towards One Million Sister’s key NGO partners, including Pro Mujer, Every Mother Counts and Care International, which focuses on economic development, maternal care and education respectively.

The One Million Sisters x Stylebop bracelet will be available from 9 March. Shop it at

2. iRoo

In celebration of women everywhere, Taiwanese fashion label iRoo has launched a limited edition collection titled Love is Everywhere. The collection is made up of t-shirts in two sweet designs — two intertwined hearts in the 2Hearts t-shirt ($35.80) and a heart-shaped balloon in the Love Balloon t-shirt ($40.80).

Full proceeds from the sale of the collection will be donated to the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisation (SCWO) and aid in their efforts to help women in Singapore.

The Love is Everywhere collection will be available from 8 to 31 March. Shop it at iRoo boutiques island-wide, including #B1-52 Ngee Ann City.

3. L’occitane

To recognise International Women’s Day and the Burkinabe women L’occitane has been working with for the past 30 years, the beauty brand will be releasing the Shea Rose Solidarity balm ($6.50). The new formula blends rose with shea butter for an aromatic and nourishing treat for your lips, hair or any dry areas.

All profits from the sale of the balm will go towards NGO programs that aim to help women in Africa’s Burkina Faso gain financial autonomy and develop leadership and entrepreneurial skills, through the L’occitane foundation.

The Shea Rose Solidarity balm is available from 1 March onwards. Shop it at L’occitane stores island-wide, including #B2-33 Ion Orchard.
