You Can Help A Woman In Need By Packing Up Your Old Clothes

Give both your wardrobe and fellow women a new lease of life

Is your closet close to bursting with clothes? If so, take some time over the next few days to sort through your collection and bring the pieces you no longer wear to Style It Forward.

The community initiative, established in 2009 by the Singapore Committee for UN Women and Club 21, takes your preloved items and turns them into ways to help women in Singapore and the region.

The collection drive will take place from 6 to 9 October at the Level 2 Atrium of Hilton Singapore Shopping Gallery, where you can donate your clothes and accessories. Everything from children's clothes to your own past designers buys — as long as they're still in good, wearable condition — can be donated.

All your preloved pieces will then be gathered and sold at Buy To Save, a three-day sale held from 4 to 6 November at Forum the Shopping Mall, where you can also shop other pre-loved high-end designer items.

Proceeds from the sale will go towards the Singapore Committee for UN Women’s local campaigns and beneficiaries in the region, like the Help Anna Campaign and the Manila Safe Cities Project, that aim to end all types of violence against women.

There’s really no greater incentive to spring-clean your wardrobe than to lend fellow women a helping hand — start clearing now!
