Why You Don’t Buy From Certain Fashion E-Stores

One survey reveals the reason – and it’s not price

What a surprise – awesome clothes or great bargains aren’t the most important thing online shoppers look for when they consider buying from a new store.

According to a recent report by Tel Aviv-based marketing solutions company Yotpo, the key factor shoppers look for is, in fact, reviews. “Shoppers rely on the opinions of past buyers to ensure they’re making the right choices,” said the report, which surveyed 500 shoppers across the globe and drew on 2016 data from 3,000 online fashion stores in 185 countries.

“To earn new customers, it’s vital to have reviews.”

In addition, the report found that online fashion stores tend to attract more reviews that other types of e-stores. More shoppers - i.e. 10.8 per cent - write reviews for such stores, compared with the overall average of 6 to 8 per cent.

And the average order value? USD$97 (or about SGD$132).

The majority of shoppers, or 60 per cent, on online fashion stores also use their mobile device to place their orders, more than the average of 48 per cent for e-commerce in total. Just call it retail therapy and group support.
