Thom Browne's Pool Party Show Had Cat People & Disco Dogs

It’s as strange and amazing as it sounds

What goes on inside of Thom Browne's head?

The designer has one of the wildest imaginations in the industry—he never seems to run out of out-of-this-world ideas and influences for his collections and his shows. It's quite impressive.

For spring 2017, he treated editors and buyers and "influencers" to this visual feast: A Slim Aarons pool-scape in a non-terrifying upside down.

A place where bathing beauties with zinc-y white and blue lipstick disrobe with the help of cat-people and parrot people to reveal trompe l'oeil Lilly Pulitzer-esque print dresses that looked like a suit or a cardigan over a shirt and a pencil skirt.

And then the lights go down and the model dressed like a disco dog begins to spin.

The models shed yet another layer to reveal classic striped bikinis and recline, in perfect Esther Williams-style formation, along the side of the pool to give the audience one last shot at another perfect Instagram.
