This Saint Laurent Store Looks Like A Sci-Fi Cage

And guess what? It's just a temporary shop while the main boutique undergoes renovation

Just how stringent is Hedi Slimane, creative designer of Saint Laurent, when it comes to design? Not only is he the brain behind the brand's clothes and accessories, he also photographs all its campaigns and designs the boutiques — even the temporary ones.

Case in point: The pop-up store that sits in the middle of Ion's atrium on level one. It holds the men's and women's collections until the main store that's currently under renovation reopens later this year.

The cage-like structure, with its black grid façade and rows of fluorescent white light, makes a striking statement and highlights the brand’s L.A-rocker-meets-Parisian-cool vibe.

Never mind that it's temporary — it's built with a mix of black “soie” polished marble, white “statuaire” matte marble, extra-clear glass, extra-clear mirror, nickel-plated brass, mirror-polished brass, quilted black leather, concrete, black-lacquered aluminium and gold-tinted mirrors. Somebody film a third Matrix sequel here, pronto.
