This Local Label Wants To Give You $50 For Shoes You Don’t Wear

Now you can donate your mistake buys for a good cause

A recent Singapore survey showed that 89 per cent of local women own shoes that they wore less than five times, with 46 per cent owning shoes that they have not worn at all.

Alarmed by the report, local label Arete Goods decided to start a shoe donation drive in partnership with the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCOW). “We are firm believers of buying better, and buying less – why buy dozens of discounted shoes in odd styles when you only wear a few classic designs in reality?” says Geraldine Goh, co-founder of Arete Goods.

The upshot of that? From now till 31 December, customers can bring their unused or slightly used shoes to Arete Goods’ showroom to enjoy $50 off any pair of leather ballet flats from the label. The homegrown brand is known for its handcrafted full-leather ballet flats, which are available in two classic styles.

The donated shoes will be sold at SCWO’s New2U Thrift Shop, and all proceeds will go to Star Shelter, a temporary crisis shelter for women and children who are survivors of domestic violence.

The Arete Goods showroom is located at #07-14 AZ @ Paya Lebar, 140 Paya Lebar Road.
