Shaun Ross

The first albino male model

Trained as a dancer, 24-year-old Ross was discovered on YouTube in 2008. The albino has since walked the runway for Givenchy and Alexander McQueen, and been featured in major publications such British GQ, Italian Vogue and I-D. FYI, he’s also appeared in music videos from Katy Perry and Beyonce.

Diandra Forrest

African-American albino model

Like Ross, Forrest is an albino. And like him, the African-American’s unusual looks have earned her modelling gigs for brands such as Vivienne Westwood and at events like Africa Fashion Week, where she sent out a powerful message on albinism. She’s also starred in a music video with Kanye West.

Tattoo-covered model

Better known as Zombie Boy for the corpse tattoos all over his body, this Canadian actor, model and artist is, uh, dead arresting. Discovered by Lady Gaga’s fashion director, Nicola Formichetti, Genest was featured alongside the superstar in her music video, Born This Way.

Models teen girls' clothes

What started out as a joke turned into an Internet sensation when Liu, 75, helped his granddaughter style and model outfits for her online boutique. Sounds a tad creepy, but Gramps actually looks pretty cute in the clothes.

Moffy

The cross-eyed model

Sure, she’s young, gorgeous and of the standard model measurements, but there’s something (different) about Moffy: She’s cross-eyed. The Brit caused a sensation after doing a cover shoot for POP magazine in 2013, and is now signed with Storm, the modelling agency that discovered Kate Moss.

Ugly.org

A model and talent agency for ugly people

Want to be a model but not, shall we say, conventionally good-looking? Sign with Ugly.org. This modelling agency is dedicated to people who are far from the usual stereotypes. As it states on its website, “We like our women fat and our men geeky; we like the extremely tall and the shockingly small. No one is too abstract for our books! Any beauty can be airbrushed but we want our look to have true character.”

The modelling scene can be cruel - especially to those who aren’t society-approved skinny or good-looking. But sometimes looking way, way different can have its advantages. As the models above show, the world does celebrate individuality too.
