Psst, I’ll let you in on a secret: Our fashion editor hasn’t shopped the Uniqlo X Lemaire collection, in stores now (but flying off shelves fast).
As the rest of the ELLE team yammered on recently about which pieces we had snapped up over the weekend, she coolly said, “Actually, the collection I’m really excited about is the Carine Roitfeld one.”
Well, it looks like she and all the other fashion folk who have it on their hit lists will have to leg it to Uniqlo soon. The Japanese brand has just announced that the collaboration – a partnership between Roitfeld, the former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, and Uniqlo design director Naoki Takizawa – will launch here on 30 October at Uniqlo Ion Orchard and the brand’s online store.
There are 50 pieces in total, all designed with the aim of “accentuating feminine beauty” but with a slight steampunk-meets-goth edge. Think everything from patterned tights and silk slips with lace panels to faux fur coats, belts and croc-embossed bags that should whisk you from sunny Singapore to nippy Paris quite easily.
I personally want (Need! Love!) the soft mohair-blended sweater seen in the campaign shots (lensed by maestro Steven Meisel, no less) and the elegant tuxedo jacket. So Saint Laurent yet so saintly on the pocket – prices range from $14.90 to $299.90.
Above, some highlights from the collection so you can make a mental note of what you want to grab when it drops – because don’t forget, you’ll have competition, you know.
