Meet Singapore’s Most Fashionable Illusion Museum

And guess what, admission is free

So you’ve been to Sentosa’s Trick Eye Museum and Suntec’s Alive Museum, and you’ve run out of clever pics to post on Instagram. Well, it’s time to ready that phone camera again, because there’s a new illusion museum in town.

Actually, not only will you need your camera for this one, but your best threads too. Because the Fashion Playhouse is all about you looking your most stylish and runway-ready.

Brought in by the fashionable folks at ION Orchard, this pop-up project at ION2 is made up of three fashion-inspired “playrooms” that capture the essence of the industry.

There’s the runway-themed Fashion Proportions room (nattily draped in the colour of the season, teal) where an installation of swings distorts the depth and perspective of the space. Inside the Fashion Inversions area, you can experience what it’s like to be a model on a gravity-defying photo-studio set.

And if you’ve ever wanted to be a cover girl? Head straight to the opulent Fashion Reflection room to be the face of the mall’s Flair magazine.

“Retail therapy is about fun and playful multi-sensory experiences, and this is how we want to welcome the Autumn-Winter season,” says Chris Chong, Orchard Turn Developments’ chief executive.

“The Fashion Playhouse will treat visitors to an amazing shopping experience at ION Orchard with a spectacle of optical illusions. The emphasis is on fashion infused with quirky fun.”

The Fashion Playhouse is open from 11am-8pm daily till 21 October (note that the outdoor section will be closed if PSI readings exceed 150). To enter, just spend a minimum of $80 at ION Orchard or post at least three Instagram posts with the hashtags #IONPlayhouse and #OrchardRoad.
