Since Mansur Gavriel entered the scene in 2012 with two simple, minimalist bags - a bucket (pictured below) and a tote - its range of products has burgeoned like a fashion editor’s wardrobe at an end-of-season sale.
Thanks to the fever-pitch popularity of those first designs, the brand now has a vast #happygirlhappybag fan base worldwide, along with more than a few new bag styles in various finishes.
Now New York designers Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel are about to find out whether their label’s appeal extends beyond bags.
Next month, Mansur Gavriel will launch its first-ever shoe collection, an ambitious line comprising four styles in five heel heights (from flats to 110mm heels), two materials (suede and vegetable-tanned leather) and 15 colours (from pale pink to navy blue). That’s a whopping 320 styles in all – a world away from the tiny offering of two it began with.
But that doesn’t mean the brand has also abandoned its minimalist aesthetics. The entire footwear collection is based on a simple slide design that’s convenient to wear and will easily match most outfits.
Can’t wait to snag a pair? Look out for the shoes (and a couple of new bag designs) from February, when they’ll be available exclusively on Net-A-Porter for two weeks and more places thereafter. And if getting them is anything like trying to land a Mansur Gavriel bucket bag: Good luck.
