If someone told us Kanye West would be one of the most powerful voices in fashion a couple of years back, we would have brushed it off. Sure, the rapper’s musically-talented and has an undeniably great style, but the industry has no lack of fashionable stars.
And now, in 2016, West sells out shoes before they even hit the shelves, has his own very successful fashion label, has shown at New York Fashion Week and is the face of huge brands like Balmain.
He also manages to make artiste merchandise insanely covetable — hundreds of fans in New York and Los Angeles queued overnight to shop at his Life of Pablo temporary stores, named after his seventh studio album of the same title.
If you weren’t there to grab yourself a piece of Kanye, don’t worry, because the rapper is bringing the Life of Pablo to you.
West announced on Twitter (of course) yesterday that 21 Life of Pablo pop-up stores will be opening around the world this weekend, and Singapore is one of them.
And we’re the only country in Asia participating — what a way to make a little island-city feel the love, Kanye.
Merchandise include vintage Levi’s denim jackets, hoodies and t-shirts that mirror the rapper’s effortlessly badass style.
As with anything Kanye West-related, there will definitely be a queue. So lace up your Yeezys and run down now.
Find the Life of Pablo temporary store at Suntec City Tower 1 from 19 to 21 August, from 12pm to 8pm.
