Is Givenchy Abandoning Paris For New York?

The French brand has a new home in the city of dreams

French fashion house Givenchy has announced that it will be showing its Spring Summer 2016 show in New York instead of Paris. But don’t worry, Riccardo Tisci hasn’t abandoned the brand’s home in France - he’s just chosen the American city in celebration of the opening of Givenchy’s new Madison Avenue flagship boutique.

“It’s a very delicate day for America, and so the show is going to be a celebration of family and love,” said Tisci of the 11 September show. “It gives me so much energy, and I’m very inspired by the culture. I feel free when I’m there.”

We’re expecting a fiesta that won’t just be amazing but also spectacular, since Tisci will be collaborating with his friend and renowned performance artist, Marina Abramovic, on it. He said, “She’s going to help me to art direct the show. It’s going to be very interesting.”

Incidentally, this year also marks the 10th anniversary of Tisci’s time as creative designer at Givenchy, and the infamous Nightingale bag which he created.

Those of us in Singapore can celebrate by heading down to the new Givenchy store in Paragon - set to open in the last week of August - to get your hands on the timeless Nightingale.
